Just getting around to posting from my weekend trip to LC. Went down with some great guys and finds were few and far between but worth the trip as I found my first (and probably last) Voltiguere button. This is a spot that I have been hunting a while that had to have been a military outpost of some sort. Finds from mostly 1812-1820's and mostly all Artillery related. but I have dug SC militia and all items from 1790 up through 1850. All in all, 23 military buttons out of this spot.
The Voltiguere button just adds to the mystery! Thanks for looking.

Russ

Congratz on those buttons!

Great group of Buttons Russ. Don't pay no never mind to dirtstalker he drove around mud hole when I was there and went back and drove right into it.

That's a great button Russ. That is the hardest letter to find on the eagles shield.

Beautiful looking Artillery buttons and V. don't get any rarer for yankee buttons as that eagle V except for I think Marines? Congratulations, I wouldn't count it as my last yet, you found that one didn't you. Wtg--HH

Very cool button Russ! I didn't even know there was a V eagle button!! This forum has and continues to teach me a lot about relics. Very very nice finds. Big congrats and as always, love seeing treasures dug in the great state of South Carolina!

Fantastic button Russ! Don't see those pop up very often

That button is awesome Palmetto  I had no idea it even existed and one of the best things about this site is the new bits of history I learn from what we all find. I googled around and heres a bit of information on the Voltigeurs for anyone whose interested. Ridgeway Civil War Archive Buttons from Federal Voltigeer
