There's a movie called Field of Lost Shoes about those VMI cadets (sorry "keydets") and the battle of New Market. Great history with that group of young men. Congrats on that find. You don't see dug examples too often.

Nice cut real and other finds. I like how the cut was not so precise

Great finds!!! Wow.

Awesome finds! BIG Congratualtions on the cut piece! :occasion14:

Thanks all

Amazing you could make a little display case in a museum Well done

You have a great relic collection there all by itself.

Congrats, you're onto a great early site there. What a terrific assortment of early finds. The sword pommel ID looks spot on in the first photo, but when seen in the context of the group photo it appears a bit large. I may be wrong but I wonder if it might be something else. The one sword pommel I found was smaller than a minie ball, and yours is several times larger.

Hi, nice finds. Congrats:icon_thumright:

No not part of the hunt

Definitely a Pommel

Definitely a Pommel

Gregg, I hope you are right that its a pommel and hope you are able to identify it. Here are a few shots of the model 1767 Grenadiers hanger hilt I found a while back, as well as the pommel. You can see how much smaller this pommel is when compared to the one you found.
