Three weeks ago I went detecting to the south with my friend Digger6565 and we each found a Virgin Mary Medallion. Both medallions were exactly the same. Yesterday we went north up to Coco Beach and Melbourne. I found two more of the exact same medallions that we found three weeks ago. I have several questions.

1. What are the odds of me finding these?
2. Has anyone else found these on the beach? I mean the exact one.
3. These retail for 60 dollars each. Could someone be throwing them on the beach for some reason?

Thanks for looking and thanks for your responses. I find it very strange.

If they were all from the same beach, I would guess that there may have been a convention of Catholics visiting there.

The beaches were 160 miles apart

I've found Miraculous medals before. They are made in a variety of metals. Gold, silver, brass, aluminum, etc. A lot of Catholics wear them. Many times they are on a very thin chain, which is probably how they were lost. I would say it's just a coincidence, that or someone is trying to tell you to change your ways, lol. :laughing7:

Well I thought it could be a coincidence but they are exactly the same. The newer looking two medallions were found in dry sand about 20 feet apart. None of the four medallions had chains. It's like they were thrown on the beach. That's the reason I asked if others had found the exact medallion.

Could these be part of a ceremony on the beach? The last two were found at a hilton hotel.

I agree they must be a common catholic medallion because I have found them here on the west coast on beaches that are used by mostly hispanics.

Very nice saves, 925 or sterling? Very common even 65 plus years ago...

That is interesting. Thanks for the response. I have not read the post yet but these 3 medallions are exactly the same. I find that very strange. Plus their 50 dollars a piece.
It's not that strange. I only posted the links to ones that were also exactly the same. $50 each would be extremely high, even at full blown retail on a sterling silver one. But then people will sometimes pay crazy prices for things too.

Not rare at all, I see them posted quite often and carry one on my keychainhttp://www.marian.org/news/The-Meaning-of-the-Miraculous-Medal-2942

Rare to find 4........:notworthy:

I have a couple too. Not exact but real close.

I found one

Thanks for posting that find the last two I found were in dry sand at a top hotel. Two weeks earlier my friend and I found 2 more of the exact medallion. That made four of them all found in dry sand. It looked to me as though they were being thrown on the beach and not lost. There were no chains.
