Looking at them again on a bigger screen I think you're right... I was thinking it was the deeper bowl 1917 A1 version, and that the other one was earlier. But now I don't see the rivet on the crown of the green one that would id it as a combat helmet, and I do see it on the brown one.

I need to get my eyes checked

I just picked this up today, in looking for information on the U.S. on the front and anything else I can get

Just to add my humble opinion, the two helmets look more like miners helmets to me. The have a much deeper, rounder crown than the WW I doughboy helmets. One of them has a hole in the top that could be there to help attach a miner's light to it. My dad worked in the gold mines in California in the late 1930' until 1942 when the War Production Board closed all the gold mines down as "non-essential" to the war efforts. Also had several uncles work in the gold mines before they went off to war. Just my humble opinion.

Agreed the one is definitely a miners helmet or Civil Defense helmet, the other is a little harder to tell for sure.

For those caring here is a list of lot codes for US made helmets that I've compiled. It's not complete and the final copy of the list has some corrections made to it.
