looks like a foot from a tripod of some kind.

Re: Vintage Game Piece?

I think it sets into a "tube" of sorts and is a type of "finial" or "stopper".

It's just odd enough to be intriquing.

Re: Vintage Game Piece?

after a search what i found was this.
its about the right size for a arm or shoulder joint replacment and looks simalar.
they use things like this for animals as well.
was it found where one might spread some ashes of a loved one.

Re: Vintage Game Piece?

im thinking that it be the handle from center of a pot lid.....a coin or something to help size would be a good idea....perhaps the squirrels are one up on hitching...to carry those acorns...just kidding ;)

I think they use Stainless Steel.

But it could be a similar type small ball joint on a car like in the steering linkage. Here is a pic of disassembled automotive ball joint. The threads or bottom could be broken on yours.ball joint automotive.jpg Actually yours looks like the pressed in type ball joint with no threads.

Here is an older ball joint. ball joint old.jpg http://images.google.com/imgres?img...AQ&prev=/images?q=ball+joint&gbv=2&hl=en&sa=G

I have seen ball joints in all sizes, Gypsy. Especially on steering or any turn and swivel type of linkage. Not necessarily automotive. I agree, trailer hitch NOT.
Looks like a pressed in ball joint. :)

Mike
Here is his pic which he believes is a finial.finial cartridge box.jpg

I didnt know finials were as big as one inch but maybe. Something in the picture for size, Awhitser, would help the mind to visualize better. Here is a pic of a cartridge box with a brass finial.CartridgeBoxes finial marked.JPG

If you weighed it, does the "7" conform to either its troy, metric, apothecaries or avoirdupois weight?
It weighs 22.2 grams.
