I found 3 just like it in one hole at an old beach. They never were painted. They are marked Made in USA. Can't find mine right this minute, but they are not tootsietoy.......NGE

Nope - just says ADE - no room for any more markings. Have some Tootsie toys - they are all marked. This appears to have been painted silver. No signs of rust on the body but the axils are quite rusty.

Nope, not the one. You have to spell it Midgetoy to get the right one.

Thank NGE!...Finally found 2...but this toy dealer says it's Tootsie! The Tootsies I have and have seen all say Tootsie underneath, not ADE. So it is still a mystery to me! But at least I have an exact match! I can't believe I missed these, maybe because I was searching till the wee hours of the nite. I am thrilled if this is a Tootsie but am still wondering what year, and what the ADE stands for.

Yep, thats it! But they advertise it as a 3" Tootsietoy. :icon_scratch: They may be mistaken. The blue Tootsietoy also has a #3 on side but header exhaust pipes are missing on your ADE.. Maybe someone will solve this.

Found another saying it's a Tootsie! http://cgi.ebay.com/1950s-Tootsietoy-diecast-1-1950s-Race-car-3-Nice_W0QQitemZ290286537783QQcmdZViewItemQQptZDiecast_Vehicles?hash=item290286537783&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50#ebayphotohosting
You guys are really entertaining - but having fun leading me in the right direction! Now to research and find out why the "ADE" underneath!

I think the "M" is missing from the "ADE" on yours. I am looking at a 3" , 1947 Offenhauser Hill climber in my Tootsietoy price guide right now, used 25 bucks, mint 45 bucks, that was back in 1980.....NGE

This is exactly my car (have found 3 on e-bay now) except...The "ADE" on my car is in the same place as the "Made" - but totally smooth where "Tootsie Toy" and "In USA" is supposed to be. Could I have an imposter? Could the die have filled up and I have a small fortune on my hands? The Mystery continues...but no doubt this is my car! BTW...Way cool cars NGE!
