Vintage Axe Head or Wedge - Help with ID?

After a soak in an electrolysis bucket this "axehead" turned out surprisingly weird.
Any ideas on what this might be and from what era? No identifying marks visible. It does look to have been hammered like a wedge
from the flair on the butt end. As always, any ideas appreciated! Quarter for reference

I believe it is a wedge used for falling trees. I have one I found that is just like it and that's what I was told.
I'm thinking 1800s but that is just a guess. Nice find

Thanks everyone for the replies! Maybe 1800's? cool. I wonder when that style began being used or what the hole was for?

Yes, it is a felling wedge. I find them at late 1800's logging sites. The hole was used to tie the wedge to their belt.
