Found today in a mountaintop hayfield next to my house. How it got there is anybody's guess, I am thinking...1890's church picnic? This brass pendant is actually the size of a quarter and in two pieces. One half is held to the other by little tabs that bend over. Thanks for looking and I am always open to a better dating or description of this little find. Sub 8-)

You are probably close on the age, give or take 10 years or so either side! It appears to me to be of Victorian Era influence!

Subterranean,

You might want to relocate the hole you dug the Pendant from! It appears that it had some stones (probably Rhinestones) in it and who knows, they might be worth something. I would suggest digging down 6 more inches and enlarge the hole and sift everything.

Cool pendant! :icon_thumright: I share the feeling that there may well be stones in or near that hole. In any case, CONGRATS ON YOUR PENDANT! Andi

Thanks for the kind words of wisdom, guys. There were no visible stones in the hole and the pendant came out slightly bent. It flattened back out easily, as it is very delicate. Yep, it is brass, there is NO WAY that I could be lucky enough to find gold...ugh. But, I will take your advice and go try to find that hole again and recheck it for stones. (PS: there are plenty of rocks in the hole, as typical of the Ozark plateau...) Sub

Can't wait to hear if you find some stones! It is very pretty even without though.
