✅ SOLVED (Very) old suspender clip?

Found this in the yard of a very old house where the yard seems to be untouched. Only a fes inches down. It appears to be brass. Not sure if the elephant represents something or is simply declarative. Also approximate date? Thanks for your knowledge an help!

No problem Iron Buzz! My group is on fb; its called, Civil War Era 1800's Suspender Buckles and Buttons Artifacts Study Group. I'm keeping my topics to a minimum as to not compete with other "forums". I just recently started this group to help spread knowledge and to learn more myself.
