Dug a button today with some great history. Van Noy brothers started a company in the late 1800's putting hotels and eateries at places the trains stopped. Coal, water, wood worker places, all had nothing there so they put places to eat and stay. In a few years they had thousands of them across the nation. Had an official name from 1917 to 1922 "Van Noy Interstate" then they changed it to just "Interstate Co.". Stayed in business through several name changes and is now part of the Marriot Corp. Google books has some Congressional testimony after WW1 regarding all sorts of government contracts where Van Noy is mentioned as maybe taking more than they should have and profiting from the war.
