If you watch the show Gold Rush there are miners who get gold from the bottom of the Bering Sea. Check it out and you can see their methods!

But people use dredges, diving equipment, etc.

Welcome Doug..:hello:

What's even better is that there is microscopic gold in sea water.
It's unfortunately in parts per trillion..figure out a way to
successfully mine it and you'd be wealthy enough to hire Bill Gates
as your butler.

As for the Roomba idea, randomly vacuuming the sea floor, other than
unique places like Alaska, would be an exercise in futility.

Read a sci-fi book one time where aliens came to Earth to recruit us to fight their battles against some aggressive species, the recruiting species having an aversion to violence. To pay the earthmen they had a apparatus that extracted gold from seawater in the form of small rods.Like I said,it was sci-fi but I,d sure like to have one of those machines!

Seems being that mercury absorbs gold has anyone tested a method to run seawater through isolated mercury in a tank to collect the gold? Seems if you have enough mercury and slowly run the seawater through an isolation tank of some sort one could collect the gold then process the mercury to recover the gold?

If no one has tried it and does try what I suggested and they can recover gold that way, I will be looking for patents on it and I want my 30% being it was my idea in the first place! :laughing7::laughing7::laughing7::laughing7::laughing7::laughing7::laughing7::laughing7::laughing7:

There once was a old guy (R.I.P.) from Arkansas that had a website that did exactly that ! He had a device that he set into a stream that had Mercury in it and the water had real fine gold in it and the water flow from that stream would have the fine gold absorbed to the Mercury . it took awhile and got a little gold collected but it was a miniscule amount ! He had a website on yahoogroups and I don't know if it is still up-n-running since Art passed away !
