V4 update bugs on certain machines

Seems your warning about no configuration control of updates is coming back to bite xp in the azz. I'm hearing that Alain stated there will be a v4.1 update for the purpose of ensuring everyone is using the correct update. Here's the funny thing, if that's all it is then s simple file name change would be all that's required. Instead this v4.1 update is pending. This makes me think there are other tweaks happening.

If they do release a ver 4.1 they better issue release notes detailing the bug fixes with it before I even consider updating again.

I was wondering the same thing, but realized they're probably holding off to see what other issues customers can shake out of v4. I don't agree with the strategy, but they were fixing the firmware on their servers so everyone from that point on had a "fixed" version, with the same v4 number. I'd guess they're going to wait a few weeks and see if anything else pops up that they want to include in v4.1. There may also be other bugs that were reported to XP that didnt affect us or we didn't see online.

This is XPs forum for the Deus and in this post Alain mentions that a v4.1 will come out, but not specifically when. Forum XP ? Afficher le sujet - Problème de Bug version 4 Hopefully your browsers will translate that from French automatically... I use Chrome and it auto translates it.

I mostly keep my mouth shut. My wife openly complains I don't talk enough 90% of the time - even at parties. I love to read and I read a lot of material. I didn't save it and the internet probably did, but I have long held insight as to what may happen and has now happened- the root of all this V.4 and new hardware release fiasco.

You should know by now I dislike rumor whores, and it's not polite to just state the root cause but it was quoted directly from the horse's mouth last year. Anyone else know who and what I'm talking about?

It's very plain if you look for quotes from the One who is all things XP.

Back to keeping my mouth shut.

The fruit is now ripe. It's been fascinating to observe.

Negative my iPhone 6s will not see the Dues via BlueTooth. Tried for a few minutes and nothing. I didn't expect it to work since XP directly said the app was not ready for release, and would be properly released in a month or so.
It's strange that Android phones can see it on Bluetooth but not iPhones.

Thanks for checking Austin. When I get home I'm going to see if an Android will see it under "devices". I suspect it will since people have been reporting their Android recognizes it independently from the XP Detect App (Android version of Go-Detect) under Bluetooth devices.

It begs the question of why an Android will recognize it as a Bluetooth device and IOS won't.

different hardware in the iPhone is all my tech brain came come up with, I know that's not a big help :)

Well............... I have been holding off on this update due to all the issues coming to light. I have 2 Deus remotes, 3 coils and both the WS5 as well as the WS4 headphones. With all this talk of headphones and coils "Bricking" and needing to be returned for reprogramming I think I will hold off just a tad longer. My older remote has a 2 digit serial number so I am assuming it is a older unit and am hoping it will update with no issues when I am ready.
I think XP should release a comprehensive step by step instruction sheet for this update. From what I am hearing the command prompts on the update just do not supply enough info to keep one from making an error during upgrade.

If people would follow the proper procedure for updating there is no risk of bricking the coil or headphones. I think the update is worth it

I agree. I went from v3.2 to v4b18, back to v3.2 then back to v4b18, then to v4b19, then v4 a couple hours after it released, then to v4 again a day later to fix disc on prog9 and finally to v4 again last weekend when other minor issue were fixed. So that's 7 times flashing the firmware on my remote, 9" coil, 11" coil and ws4 all in a few weeks. No issues at all. I carefully read all prompts and triple checked my ws4s were off when it told me to. The instructions seemed pretty clear to me. That said, I wanted to run v4 and I do plan on buying some new accessories.... But v3.2 is bad @$$ too so I understand why people might not upgrade. But the only way bugs that slipped through QA and beta are found, reported and fixed are because people upgrade and report issues. That's just normal with software releases. If everyone waited to upgrade then the bugs wouldn't be found or fixed... Or if they were it would take much longer. So I'm all for getting the latest on my machine and trying it out. After all, we can always go back to v3.2 in a matter of minutes.

The two headphones, one remote update was/is a little trickier, just sayin, and I've rooted android cell phones before. So there are complex configs where you must pay attention to the prompts and they were not entirely straight forward when it came to the part where you updated more than one headset. I may have missed a prompt or something, but ended running through the whole update process twice to be sure I got each headset updated. If you have 2 or more complete sets of Deus' (i.e. 2+ remotes, at least two coils, 2+ headsets) then separate your units into two+ groups and update them separately. Which means the coils and headsets not being updated need to be out of range of the remote being updated.

Yep I can confirm that neither my iPhone or my rMBP shows it as a Bluetooth device. I have yet to test on Windows OS.

Window OS doesn't see it either.

I updated to v4 a week or so ago but I need to re-install v3.2 to make my new 32cc coil work. My trouble is v3.2 is not on their site. It might say "update to 3.2" then sends you to V4.
I may just be a dumb a$$ but I need some help........Please address help to: Mr. Dumb A$$

Not a dumb question because they make it hard in the way they post their links. If you updated to version 4, then the executable update shortcut should still be on the computer you used. Just click on that like you are going to update to 4 but you will have three choices, Ver 2, Ver 3.2 and Ver 4. Just pick Ver 3.2 and follow the prompts and all your hardware will be rolled back to 3.2 where you can then link your new coil to the remote then you can update back to 4.0 if you want. Another thing you can try is to just redo the 4.0 update and see if the remote recognizes the new coil and you may be able to update it all to 4.0 in one step.

Yeah what V said. Not sure when you updated last week, but XP made some corrections and released an update on Saturday. So if you updated before that you might want to try again. If not just choose v3.2

Do you see where it says "4"? Just click it and you will be able to select what you want.

jadocs, this is going to sound nuts, but when you had the phone search for the bluetooth device, did you move the coil around in the air as your phone was searching for bluetooth?! I paired mine on two different Android devices. The first couple times I told my phone to search for bluetooth devices it didnt find any. Then I noticed in the XP Detect app it said to "move the disc to connect"... and I kid you not, when I moved the coil around as my phone was searching for bluetooth devices, it found it right away. :dontknow: I'm a tech guy and this makes no sense to me. But all I can think is that maybe the coil only transmits a bluetooth signal when its detecting something and as I moved the coil it was picking up stuff in my office. I really have no better explanation\guess than that. Anyway, I replicated this a couple times on my two Android devices and each time I had to move the coil around as it was searching.

I typically post on tnet, but I was in a similar discussion on the "other forum" that the mods wont let us link to. But I took these screenshots from my phone as I was pairing my phone to my Deus and I posted it in a thread on the other forum.

I enabled Go Detect on my remote.

Told my phone to search for bluetooth devices and I HAD to move the coil around in the air to get it to find it! Otherwise it would just tell me there were no devices to pair (btw, my coil was a couple feet from my phone when it was sitting and when I moved it around in the air)

In the XP Detect app on my phone it then saw the bluetooth device

And here it is paired to XP Detect. I got the idea to try moving the coil around (as crazy as it seemed to me) from the UI here that say to move the disc to connect! haha

Anyway, perhaps that will help with pairing on the iPhone and Windows phone. I wouldn't think the bluetooth would be diff for them, but I may be wrong. I only have and have only ever had Androids.

I'm interested to see if this makes a difference on your devices.

Outdoor,

Thanks for posting. Yep your pictures and the fact that xp is recognized as a Bluetooth device is what convinced me that it is not dependent on whether an app is developed or not.

Still no go at this station. Tried it again by waving the coil...nothing registers on Apple as a Bluetooth device.

Interesting. That's really weird. I honestly thought it would use WiFi and not bluetooth all along, so I was very surprised to see it link with bluetooth. It wasnt until I put the XP Detect on my phone and it told me I had to enabled bluetooth when I started the app... and I realized perhaps my WiFi guess was wrong! So maybe they have something to fix with the bluetooth on the Deus for iPhones or something... for now, I uninstalled the app from my phone and I'm going to wait until the phone app releases to mess with it again. I'm interested in seeing it in action once the app isn't in beta and is released.

I'm not going to mess with the phone app. I am afraid it will update my phone to the bad version 4 from last Friday night. Also known as the Saturday hangover edition.

I am almost 100% sure that the APP on the playstore and the APP for iOS are 2 different APP's. Why do I say this? Because android can connect and iPhones can not. I havent tried windows either but then again why would I lol not carrying a laptop or my surface Pro 4 around while I detect )
The 2 apps look totally different as well, I don't see the same as in the screen shots above on a iPhone so I don't have high hopes until the app has been officially released as I think they have to code a whole new iOS app [emoji846]
