I've been working with my V3 for a while now and I keep having an annoying little thing happen to me on each hunt. Whenever my coil gets to low to the ground and hits even a single blade of grass it goes off with a false target reading. Is this the same for everyone? I've heard of people dragging their coil across the ground and I tried it but all I got was constant false hits from the coil moving along the ground. Does anyone know what I need to tune in to get this to go away? I've got some good property lined up to hunt but it is overgrown and I won't be able to do it at all if this stays the same. Thanks for any help.

Sounds like you might have a bad coil, do you have another coil to try? You might try running a stock program thats not real hot, there's some changes that if made could be your problem I'm not sure what the one is that affects swing speed and not sure if this would be the cause of it.

Unfortunately I don't have any other coils to throw on there. I was using the factory Coin and Jewelry program at Rx gain 6 because the ground that I was on was really trashy. I'll try tuning down my swing speed, maybe that will help. If not I guess I need to drop some coin on a new coil :D

Thanks for the reply.

The days of detectors sounding off on grass are looooong gone 30 years ago. get a new coil dude.

Yes you have problems that could be only a new coil will fix...........

I've talked to the shop owner where I bought the detector and he agrees. I'll be dropping it off for replacement ASAP. Thanks for the info all :headbang:
