I don't imagine it would fare too well. Being preset GB machine with not alot of depth. Finding a gold ring at a tot lot- sure no problem, prospecting in the desert-nope.

Great!... If it's a really big nugget.
Almost all places that have gold also have tons of iron. Ground balance is a must.
Yet ->
Wire in a toggle for the pinpoint so you can keep it on "All Metal / Pinpoint".
Walk around and listen close. You can force it to work as a mapping system.
Stream Gold will be before the iron. (There's a science to it. Flows / vs. / Bedrock [long story])
Other searches on land will be better. But less productive for gold. Albeit you can find gold and
neat artifacts... Pinpoint switch sure does make it easier.

Although the 250 is an excellent machine - a nugget and flake machine it is not. You need a detector that has a manual GB and threshold adjustment. Or better yet a designated gold machine.

Figured as much. I guess using my home-built PI machine would probably do the job
equally as well (It does not discriminate at all, and has a sensitivity adjustment )

yeah, the ace 250 really isnt designed for gold prospecting.

And you will have to be really careful not to get water into the control box. Oops can be pricey even lifting the coil above the level of the control box can run water up the shaft.
