USA B17 Crash & My first Viking Halfpenny-UPDATE ID

Land-Mag managed to get another new farm (along with a couple of others for after harvest ::) ). This farm is next to the crash site of the B17 we have been doing, trying to return interesting parts to the surviving relatives in the US.

I was detecting on my own for about 3.5 hours in pretty deep Wheat crop :P

Only a few B17 bits, none that interesting.
2 Crotal Bells
2 Bronze slag pieces (Ancient)
Medieval belt Decor
3000 Bronze Age Dirt fragment :icon_thumright:

In the last 25 minutes I changed fields & wandered to a spot I was being pulled to, it was a little odd to be honest. Anyway found something I've had on my Wish List for some time. I even brought an example to plug that impossible gap :laughing7:

Viking cut halfpenny of one of the most famous Viking Kings of England:

CNUT - 1029-1035AD

I'm just about to start celebrating :occasion14: :occasion14: :occasion14: :occasion14:

Cheers everyone :hello:

Re: USA B17 Crash & My first Viking Halfpenny

Interesting site, I researched an American crash site here in Germany but never got to detect it. It's on the other side of Germany where I used to work. That CNUT Viking coin is awesome, do you have many Viking era coins? HH, Mike

Re: USA B17 Crash & My first Viking Halfpenny

congratulations on the viking coin, a m8 of mine once found a cnut cut half folded over and inside a cnut cut quarter from a different coin!

Re: USA B17 Crash & My first Viking Halfpenny

Great find BUT, most of all thank you for your efforts on the B17. :icon_thumleft:

Re: USA B17 Crash & My first Viking Halfpenny

Way cool coin.
When you say rare, you can be sure it is actually rare.

Re: USA B17 Crash & My first Viking Halfpenny

I would celebrate too :icon_sunny: ! You have stated in a previous post that most of your sites are on the the bare fringes of viking finds . So congrads on that half penny. MaineRelic

None except, a couple of late Saxon Pennies from the same period.

Re: USA B17 Crash & My first Viking Halfpenny-UPDATE ID

Another awesome find Cru. :o

I've been in and out for the last year but I try to look at all the posts coming from that side of the pond. You guys have been making some exiting finds over there. Keep it up, seeing the stuff your finding is what keeps me going.

Can you tell I'm still jealous? ::)

Looking forward to seeing CNUT up top but seems the banner people are off duty again this weekend. :-\ :icon_scratch:

Just had to change it a little, as it could have mislead. I should have said the first of this type from this moneyer at Canterbury Mint. As it sounded a little like a new moneyer, sorry. But it is the only one :icon_thumright:
