Nice bright day but the wind must have taken it down to -4. Spent just over 4.5 hours (9 man hours) on the field.

I got 2 cut hammered coins, which means although I never got 1 last outing, I have had 5 for 5.

Jan's totals:
11 hammered
51 Roman Bronzes
3 Roman Silver
301 buttons

A great start to 2009.

The pottery piece has the Meissen crossed swords mark of 1725-1732
A nice Victorian Railway button, Lead medieval button, livery button & possible silver blob tudor button.
Dad found an early broken silver thimble, which he had found the top of a few trips ago.
9 Scrappies

My fav find an ornate 15th Century annular buckle - new variant for me & complete :)

Awesome start, Cru!  You and Cru'Dad are off to another Banner Year! Did you solely use the XP Goldmaxx the past month? And if you did, just wondering if you think you could have found everything that you did with your Cortes?

(I used only the XP)

Thats a difficult question, I'm pretty sure its increased my find rate by 25%-35%. Its a great machine & I have Woody's settings to thank for it. I go for a 'dig all' approach, rather than a Disc approach. With a quick recovery (3 seconds average), then the goodies flow. I only ignore 'obivious' iron, although still clear plenty of it.

Watch this space, 2009 & here I come!

A couple of years ago I did a running total spreadsheet of significant finds & likely value (insurance purposes). I gave up as it takes to much time ::) As I don't sell, the collection in 10 years might need a bigger house  :D
