upgrade to an mxt

I have the mxt basic unit & love it, all of the mxt units are about the same with the exceptions of the pro has tones.

The MXT can run with the big dogs for sure, I wouldn't trade my MXT for even 3 of any other detectors out there. I've hunted with people that have top of the line detectors and the MXT will find coins as deep as any of them. The MXT pro will give you more tones but will cost more even used as its newer but its the same detector with more tones, backlit display, and ground grab, the ground grab feature is only used if running with trac lock on. You can do the same thing as ground grab with the regular MXT or MXT300 but you will have to reground balance instead of just having to hit the button. The MXT300 is the same machine as the regular MXT except the 300 has the 300MM loop or the super12 coil, its just a 12" concentric coil instead of the standard 950 or 9.5" coil. The 300MM coil and super12 is the same coil. You should be able to find a MXT or MXT300 in your price range but if you can get the MXT pro in that price range then go for it if you want more tones, I wouldn't pay more for it if I wasn't looking for more tones because if I hunt in the dark I'm going to have a headlamp on anyway to see where I'm going and like I said you can do the same thing as the ground grab feature its just going to take a minute to reground balance instead of just hitting the button and will only come into play if running with track lock on. Good luck and HH

I like the MXT Pro with its tones. If you hunt with friends and are competitive,,,,,,,just listen for the high tones,,,,its either a quarter, dime or penny. I LOVE the tones,,,,you don't have to keep looking down at your screen every time your machine sounds off.

...my mxt found me a lot of stuff..make sure you x the target... that when you can tell if it's trash or the good stuff..
