upgrade hopefully

I currently own an ace 250 and have found a GTA 400 for sale for only $229.95 is this a good detector I would guess it is better than the ace because of the size,I wanted you guys opinion's b4 I bought it please any info would be app.

I would skip this buy if I were you. It's a fair price, but you mentioned an upgrade. This is just a different model and hardly better than what your using now.

Matthewh05, I have a GTAx 400 and it has served me well for the past 7 1/2 years. It seemed to me that Garrett discontinued the 400 and upgraded the ace 250 with a lot of the 400's features as well as adding some the 400 didn't have. Having said that, I would imagine the 400's performance would be on par with the ace's. If you're looking for another good detector, the GTAx 400 is a fine choice. If you are looking to upgrade, I would save up and do some more research.

As much as I heartedly disapprove of (dislike?) the use of an Ace 250 in bad soil or on salt beaches I can say that as a normal coin hunter it's certainly better than the GTAx 400 that I tried out in a pawn shop about 6 months ago. Yes, that one could have had problems already, but I don't think so.
