we are packing tank simulators into big Seapack containers bound for the states via ship.? Opened a container this morning that had some saw dust and debri in it, customs agent tells the packers they had to sweep and remove all that stuff.? While sweeping, one of the packers found a Chinese 10 Yen coin and gave it to me.? I told him I metal detect and collect coins and such.? Then he reached in his pocket and gave me a about .92 British Pence, he forced it on me and was happy about it so... Don't know why he had the British coinage with him.? I don't know what the date on the Chinese coin is, it's all Chinese to me, LOL, but it looks like a newer coin. HH, Mike

Here is the obverse of the Chinese coin my colleague found in the container.

Mike, I Found a very old Roman coin here in Charleston, not long ago. My only guess is that it had to come here by ship. I found it at the site of a Rev. War Battle. I wished that I knew the story of how it got here. Just another Detecting Mystery. trk5capt...

Updated post with a picture. Trk5cptn, that Roman coin may have been a good luck charm for some early sailor. When we were discovering America 500+ years ago, Roman was still old and ancient. I would really like to see a picture of it, obverse and reverse. Have you been able to properly ID it? Emporer, legend, mint mark? You are one lucky person to have found a Roman coin in American soil! HH, Mike

Looks like a Republic of China (Taiwan, Quemoy, Matsu) ten dollar/yuan coin from the 1980's.
