(UPDATED) Dug A Full/Sealed Bottle of Booze or Moonshine (S. Georgia)

This is one of my most unusual finds ever. Today I was detecting along a creek in what is now a park in S. Georgia and dug the top of a bottle I thought was just a typical broken bottle with cap attached....but then I saw that not only did the bottle appear whole (standing about 45 degree angle in the ground), but I could see there was still liquid all the way to the top of the bottle. I carefully dug around until I could pull it out and here's what I got. The moonshine is about the color of lemonade and has sediment in it....4/5 Quart bottle says "Federal Law Forbids The Sale or Reuse of This Bottle" - which research says was required on bottles from 1935 to 1964 to help stop moonshiners from reusing legal booze bottles after Prohibition. Any idea how to pin down date of bottle? Thank you. No, I don't plan to drink it! Thanks to Earthworks for the photos and Skunemonk for Googling some research while I was still out in the field. I guess someone never made it back to drink their stash.

i would at least have to give it a little sniff. i don't think i would drink it either. had moon shine a couple of times, and it's pretty mean stuff. nice ,odd find.

Just make sure its not Nitro-Glycerine!

Maybe someone drank it and then refilled the bottle? YUCK!!!!!! I don't know exactly how to put it without sounding disgusting.

If the cap was loose it could have filled up with ground water. It is pretty full though, so ground water is unlikely.

If it had been 're-filled' it would probably be the color of blackstrap molasses by now and thanks for the visual,

As far as pinning down the date, many bottle manufacturers put dates on the base of their bottles. Not all but some. I have a double dot Pepsi bottle made in 1948 that I found in an old dump. The top rim is broken off so I'm looking to cut it for use as a drinking glass.

Sniffing it? ,Be careful,I once sniffed a full bottle and it was ammonia&it sure took my breath away so it could be a worse chemical(set as trap? for the revenuers!??!)so be careful.Bottle looks to be from the 40's 50's but hard to tell ,HH ALL!!! Good Luck gmsparky

When I was in High School, my friends and I found some full beer bottles in a shopping cart in a grocery store parking lot. My one friend was hell bent on drinking it and getting a buzz, I said no way. He opened the cap and started to chug one and then spit it out with force all over the place. Turns out it was not beer, it was urine. I think you know what the lesson is. Dont drink it!

Moonshine only gets better with age right? i don't think its urine unless they were really hydrated. send it over here i will give it a try
