Hi all. Hope everyone is well. Since my last post shortly after i found the medal. I have cleaned the medal with soap water only. One of the members mentioned on my last post that there will be a persons name on the rim of the medal and was right. On the rim of the medal is punched in
T.P.R:T.R PATERSON BRABANTS HORSE. I still need to try and do some internet research and see if i can find any info on the person. In the meantime i will send the medal in for repairs. I will send another update at a latter stage. The rest of my finds still need to be cleaned but i have attached some photos .

Thanks for looking and Happy Hunting to all.

The little brass ring i thought was a copper pipe connection fitting or something, after cleaning it i found that it is actually a coin ring, a 1940s South African 1d penny.

That's a beauty and a truly historical find. Congrats and well done on the clean-up! :skullflag: :occasion14:

That's an amazing medal. I hope you'll be able to ID the person who it belonged to. Again, huge congratulations!

You have found some really nice things lately...keep it up! :occasion14:

Congratulations on finding a "mini museum" in one dig! That medal is very special and I hope you can track down a descendant of that "horse soldier." Assuming he was a Trooper (TPR) in Brabant's Horse Brigade??? Cheers, Sub 8-)

Im not sure how to read the info on the edge of the medal but could this be the one HH Chug:dontknow:

1254 Trooper
Richard PATTERSON
, 3rd NSW Mounted Rifles.

Nice work on the cleaning of the medal, you have several other interesting finds there with the relics & coins, congrats on a great hunt

Looking forward to ongoing research, BOL

Brendan, this is super neat. Looks like a really cool piece of history. Was this medal given to veterans of the boer war?

Very Nice!!! Congrats!!!

Just noticed I had 1 extra T in Paterson :icon_scratch: Mistakes happen Maybe you can find someone who know the way to read the info hh Chug

Nice work on the cleanup Brendan. You’ve been finding some real interesting items lately. Congrats

I collect medals so I knew the Brit medal would have the soldiers name. I've never seen a Brit medal that wasn't marked with a name and outfit. American medals are seldom marked, and never with the outfit, only the name. I hope you can trace this fellow further. A great find in my humble opinion. Gary

Sweet hunt , that medal would definitely make me happy.
Congratulations and good luck with the Restoration.

That is an outstanding medal Brendan, and a great piece of history. Congrats to you.

Great job thats a true treasure wow

I have. Most are marked but some were not.
