UPDATE: As of 9:45 this morning - I received a phone call about a lost camera bag with cameras and two lenses in it. Apparently, my gear was stolen when I was in the coin shop. The bag was found by a husband and wife that walk the train tracks in the morning looking for cans and other scrap metal. They found my business cards and actually freakin' called me. I'd be lying if I didn't say I cried. I drove over to pick up my bag and found everything still there with the exception of my second bag. Still missing one camera and three lenses but happy to have these two back. All of my memory cards and charger still there. Everything looks intact and the cameras power up. Fortunately they are weather sealed. The lenses are a little worse for wear - they found the bag half open and soaked from last nights rain. I'll be able to get them working after some dry time. I couldn't control myself when I saw my stuff and was more than thankful when they called me. All I had to give them for a thank you was fifty bucks and I just broke down. They were thankful but I can't express how I feel. I'm hoping that maybe my second bag will turn up but if not - I'll manage. For the people out there that have any doubts about the "power of prayer", I could tell you some stories. Just want to thank everyone for the support. You all are truly incredible people even if at times you may not think you are. I'm going to to try and salvage the rest of my morning and take Izzy out with her detector. Might be able to post some pics later this afternoon. *I'll be removing my add in the classifieds for the selling of my prints. If anyone wants to see my work just ask. Thanks again.

We need to get back to some more "tortuous" methods of dealing with thieving pieces of s***.....

Re: Great day at coin shop ruined by a theif...

Yea Thats a hard day man I hope you get the (curse word inserted here).

Re: Great day at coin shop ruined by a theif...

Wow you did have a bad day!! I hope they do something stupid and get caught. When you return to the areas that you were at, keep your eyes peeled and check out the front seat and back seat of the cars in the area. You never know what you will find. One member on here found his stolen detector in a vehicle that he parked next to at Walmart, (I think it was). Good luck.

Man I hate thieves. Thats exactly why I moved out to the country. I was burglarized 12 times in 10 years living in Nashville. Keep a watch on the local classifieds and trade papers that is where I found a bunch of my stuff one time after it had been stolen. It also allowed me to learn about the finer points of citizens arrest

Agreed. The punishment they face, if any at all, if they get caught is not enough of a deterrent. Busted once - off with a hand ! Twice, up to the elbow ! 3rd time, sever the arm just below the ears !

Same goes for using a firearm during the commission of a robbery or assault.

Oughta slow 'em down a bit

DD...sorry to hear about your messed up day. Be sure YOU check the local pawn shops. Sometimes they keep their good stuff out of the prying eyes of the "cops" when they check the inventory. Hope you find it buddy..

Thanks SC. Went to the pawn shops (only three in town) and was informed that all items they purchase go on a list that gets turned in to the local P.D. with all the serial numbers on it. If any come up stolen - they know where to go. For some reason I have my doubts about that...

Re: Great day at coin shop ruined by a theif...

Bummer!
Can I ask what state/town you are in?

Re: Great day at coin shop ruined by a theif...

I hope the thief gets caught and I hope you can find some peace. Good luck with with daughter . I am sure you will find a treasure.

DD,

Sorry to hear about your stuff being stolen.
Let's hope they catch the maggot, and he still has your equipment.

The odd thing about this is that your equipment was covered up with a blanket.
Sounds like the thief knew that there was good stuff under there.
How we he know that, unless he knew you, or saw you putting your equipment in your vehicle?
Something to think about.

I hope it all works out for you,

TW

Thanks T-Wolf. I always keep a blanket in the back of my vehicle specifically for that purpose. I would think that it happened when my daughter and I went to eat. It's not a terrible part of town but not great either. Very big parking lot and lots of "rats" going back and forth. There has been quite a few robberies around here lately (car stereos and the like). I can only think that they thought it was luggage or something. The bad thing for them is not too many people use Pentax equipment - especially around here. Mostly Nikon and Canon. Like I posted earlier - they'll be in for a shock if they try to pawn it. Right now that's my only hope. As for it being someone that knows me - it could only be someone that lives in my building - and they would have had to follow me around all day. First thing in the morning I'll be heading out to the pawn shops again. As pissed-off as I've been today - I'll live. I have been through much worse.

Re: Great day at coin shop ruined by a theif...

I know how you feel, I didn't lose as much valuable stuff as you did but Wednesday night some sorry you know what, took the turn signal assembly off of my biodiesel Mercedes while it was in my driveway!!! I tried to find a replacement at several salvage yards and got myself a warning ticket from the police in the process! I ended up having to buy a new one from the dealer. I know why they stole it now..............retail $128 my cost $96. I even was willing to try an aftermarket lens but it didn't look the same so both the left and right would have had to be replaced to make the car look right. I would have spent more on two lenses. I hope there is special little place in Haities for thieves. I will look at local stuff here in Greensboro and let you know if anything shows up. I hope you get your stuff back. - Starbuck

Thanks Starbuck. It's getting ridiculous out there - my sister lives up north and commutes by train to work. About six months ago she got in her car and started it up only to find out that her catalytic converter was cut out and gone. F'ing people are crazy.

Re: Great day at coin shop ruined by a theif...

i've had my truck broken into 3 times and stole my tools, my tool shed robbed about a year ago. You never get used to it. I hit all the pawn shops in three counties the last time and never found any of it. I think all the stuff goes to flea markets because pawn shops use numbered pawn tickets that police departments keep tabs on(?, yeah right).

Re: Great day at coin shop ruined by a theif...

Man, what a drag!

I agree, third world laws would help. You get caught steeling, off goes a finger or two, an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth would stop most of this crap in it's tracks.

I'll keep an eye out whenever I'm on ebay or craigs list for your stuff.

Don't let this dirt bag ruin your time with your daughter, their day will come sooner or later.
