Anyone know what this could be? Found behind my farmhouse in NW Florida.

It reminds me of a bucket from a grain elevators leg.

Of course i am not sure about teh "leg" part Fat.

Its a "elevator bucket" though. :)

Although... due to heavy construction i think this was for dirt / rock... not grains.

I’m nearby, only 20 miles from Stevewho...There’s no grain elevators in this part of the country...at least that I know of. I’m guessing something off a planter or something similar. Also turpentine and sugar cane syrup making were prevalent in this area too.

Not a planter... of any type.

Again... Rock / dirt. *whatever* they were digging up.

Florida has huge phosphate mining ops.

Not to mention all the dredging... which has and is constant here.

I have seven rectangular water troughs similar to that on old hand crank grinding wheels.

Water cooling trough...I think that’s close...no mining operations ever in this area. This is sand, clay and limestone rock area.

This “area” is NW Florida. 30 miles north of Panama City, my family’s been here 5 generations...back to 1812. No limestone mining within 100 miles. Sinkholes, swamps and dirt poor farmers that settled this area made a living with small scale farms and cattle. If you go east towards Tallahassee you can find mining pits...but not here. Possible that someone repurposed something.

...guessing again but repurposed to feed livestock sounds really good. I have some storage “bens” that are repurposed, as it seem always need/needed a few more.
Attach it low to something and feed your pets..

I say it's from an elevator of some sort. Elevators come in all shapes and sizes. I've seen small cup size for filling sacks of ground corn and 5 gal size to fill grain trucks and larger ones at the sand pit.
