Sad, but true. This is all I've found so far at the plantation house this week during my lunches. I was forced to rework the yard some and a bit in the woods, since the horse pasture has wet doo-doo in the areas I need to finish up. I swear every time I go to detect, it rains! Not much in the way of finds, but I did find a 3-ringer and a musket ball in the yard around some oak trees.
The strange looking buckle I found in the woods about 6" deep. It still has some leather attached to the back. Any idea on the age? After I dug up the buckle, I rechecked the hole and there was a signal even deeper. It turned out to be the bullet on the right. Any idea what kind of bullet this is? Age? Or is it even a bullet? Heck, I give up. :icon_scratch: ???
Short, and sweet for this post.

As a nice filler, I included some of my daughters artwork from the last month at school.
Woodland theme- Clay pieces and some wooden boxes w/woodburn designs.
By the way, she gets her artistic ability from me. ;D
That's all folk.
Thanks,
MM

How much is brass bringing an ounce? ;D

I dunno--but I'm gonna find out! Bound to be pretty good! The Iron Brigade is gonna start recycling everything that isn't a "keeper." The local scrap place said they'd even take the junk iron--at $155 a TON! LOL. I told 'em it was rusty as hell--and they said it didn't matter--to Bring it On! With us digging 30-50 pounds of junk iron each hunt, I'm CERTAIN that we dug well over 400 pounds of it last year. I'm gonna take 'em the first 100 pounds here in a week or two and if they take it, it'll still be about 7 bucks or so... Goes well towards pizza money for our cleaning parties, and we won't have to worry about what to do with that crappe anymore. The other cool thing is that we'll have a receipt so that we can total up our junk iron for the year. :) We're saving the brass and aluminum too.

Great day out! Just bring a shovel and a 50 gallon drum and bring that wet stuff home for fertilizer for the garden. When it dries up this fall you can detect it in your own yard. :D Are you going to clean up that purse and show us?

Your daughter is very talented, very. I love the tree! She has the eye, I'd bring her detecting with you!

Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the nice reply CG. Unless they let you detect in malls, my daughter wants no part of it. ;D Wait a minute.........maybe the coin fountain in the mall would work? Hmmmmmmmmmm. :icon_scratch:
As far as the horse poo it can stay there. If they were laying golden eggs then I would surely grab a shovel and some drums. ;D
The guy with the horses & donkey that leases those pastures from the owner has packed up and is gone now. He bought some land elsewhere.
I'm going to his miss being out there without my 4-legged friends. :'(

The little purse thingy didn't clean up much better I'm sorry to say.
Thanks again,
MM
P.S. Tell your hubby I'll trade him the purse thingy for the axe head. :tongue3:

Oh SUGAR, I was gonna say trade, except he has it cleaned and mounted :D Don't think any sparkley purse will get it away from him? :-\ I'll buy all of Montanas nails, plus trade you a 50 gallon drum worth for the purse? :D Deal?

I bet you miss all those 4 legged friends? :) Wet or dry I bet they kept you entertained?

Nice finds there. The buckle sort of looks like the old paste buckles. They used to put fake stones in them. Some were used in the Georgian period. I'd go with the art deco era though. Your daughters art work is beautiful. I paint as a second hobby. Tell her to keep up the great work!!

I'm in, but I don't know if Montana Jim will give up his prestigious nail collection? :icon_scratch: ;D

Yeah, I think I'll miss that scruffy looking donkey the most. He could let out a scream that would curl your toes. :o ;D Kind of quiet out there now.

Gerry was working a Dozer next to a farm with Pete the Donkey, Pete would follow him all day long, (may have been the apples ::)) The reason they got Pete was to protect the live stock. Pete could be a great friend, or kick a Coyotes but! :D Gerr says he would scream anyone came in the yard. :D I'm not telling but he mentioned several times bringing Pete home. :-\

I hear Montana only has 25 gallons of nails I have 50 gallons. Swap just for mine? :D
