🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Unknown Vintage Dagger/Sword

Does anyone recognize this vintage dagger/short sword? It was supposedly sent back to the US by a American soldier serving in Italy during WWII. I unfortunately only have these few photos, and no measurements or further info.

The blade appears to possibly be double edged but the one clear visible edge seems to stop well before where one would expect a cross guard to be. Perhaps this was a crude locally made souvenir item? Any help is appreciated!

Yes, I agree. The handle for sure isn't constructed with comfort or use as weaponry in mind. It looks like someone may have sharpened it on one edge after it was made.

The lion rampant with the open crown atop the shield just looks generic. The other motif looks like it may be some kind of battle scene with a couple of soldiers and someone on horseback.
