I found this object near the Sliver Bell Mts. near Tucson Arizona. It's 5/8" x 3/8" and looks to be copper, it has a Dragon on each of it's 4 sides...Chinese?

No one? There was an old stone building near by, I think it was a hotel in the 1800's. It has to be from Chinese miners but what is it?

They were into those opium pipes back then. Maybe a piece off of one of those. Just a guess....chasin the dragon...lol.

Played a lot up there in Avra Valley :) Could be the decorative cap for a Chinese pipe or just the decorative cap for the top of a furniture post. There is not much information about the activities of Orientals in that area of Arizona but it would not surprise me if you find odd bits here and there. The area around the silver bells has been prospected for a very long time and Indians living in the area were known to collect native copper and semi precious stones from the area.
I've found English and European coins as well as arrow tips and scrapers in the washes around there..... also a lot of Mexican stuff *especially back packs and trash in the washes from the "immigrants"*.
A lot of fine mineral specimens too :) Keep on your toes out there and be polite to the Border Patrol.

Looked around but did not find it. It to me looks like a ferrule to a mirror handle. Or knife or brush ect.

Some great answers guys. Thanx! I have found a nice spear point in a wash there. It's been some time since I have been there, isn't the mine called Sasco? Thanx for all of your guesses...

I agree with RChair in that it is a ferrule of some type. I could have been on any such piece from a letter opener to a hand mirror.

Neat find :)
