I know what the two on the outside of the pic are, a knapsack/ tent rivet and a chewed bullet, but the item on the center has me stumped; dimensions are 9/16ths in. wide at rim, 5/16ths in. high, with smaller inside diameter of 7/16ths in. The outside of the center is threaded, any ideas ???Thanks :)

Could it be a cap for artillery shells, placed for transportation prior to inserting fuse?

Musket caps? Found the following pic. and don't know what they are used for though.

Question: Are those real threads or just straight ribs?

Your pic, Angelo, is of fired muzzleloading caps... too tiny. Musket caps are larger but I dont think so..

They are definately threads :-\

With those threads it looks like the little plug that holds the bulb in place on old time flash lights
Will a small light bulb screw into it?

Sorry to go off at a tangent but, just-geese, can you explain their use in more detail or send a pic because I suspect you might have the answer for another Whatsit? thread of a couple of months ago.
I'll try and find it again and post the link here.

No, there are no internal threads, only external. The inside is smooth ???

Makes sense, but would there be a hole thru the center or would it be punched out when it is attached :icon_scratch:
