I haven't had much to post lately that you haven't seen before until now. I talked Twinpicks into an afternoon hunt in the Charleston area and this was my find of the day. The St. Patrick's Benevolent Society was founded in 1817 as a source of aid to arriving Irish immigrants, both Catholic and Protestant.* Following the Civil War, the organization evolved into a mutual aid society, providing sick and funeral benefits to members and their families.* Meetings were held at several locations around Charleston including the Masonic Hall at 270 King Street, and the Hibernian Hall.
