Unidentified mystery shard

This is absolutely my favorite piece but I have no idea what it is. Was found in a beach on the north west side of St. Thomas. No idea of its age, origin, or story. Please help!

Maybe a pendant? It looks like the last word in the first line is "Jacob".

That is one of my ideas. The piece feels very solid, so I don't know if that means its very new or very old. I really know nothing about pottery! All I know is when I hold it, it feels right. I would live to get some idea on the text as well.
