Unidentified Gold Artifact

Hello everyone.

I found this artifact several years ago and have not been able to identify it. I found it about 6" down in a parking lot next to a revolutionary war cemetery in Virginia. I believe it's an adornment for possibly a scabbard or something similar... can anyone identify this?

Good find!! If it looks that good it has to be gold!

It looks like a gold pin, for a collar or tie maybe. Looks like it might be pretty old too.
