Found this beauty a while ago close to the spot where I found the spear from my previous post.
Neither the archaeologist nor anybody else was able to fully identify this thing
It's 3.8cm long and made out of bronze.
Has anybody ever seen something like this?
We've found a pendant, which was found in England, that looked a bit like it. Unfortunately it's not fully comparable since the spiral is a little different.
It looks a bit like a screw.

Hard to say. Looks more ornamental than functional. We've had other oddities hereabouts.

Maybe some sort of clothing fastener? String tied through the hole and fastened on one side, and the point was passed through a loop on the other side?

Awsome find! Looks like a pendant to me. Mabe Viking? What is the design on the top? Can you take a better picture of it straight down? What I can see it looks like a dragon or a snake and possibly what looks like an eye. Could an age be determined?

Possibly a bell or Clapper. I am no expert but my picture is a Google search of medieval bells. Interesting for sure.

it looks like a pendant. Are the tops of the hole worn?

We had different clothing fastener. Might have been an ornamental screw.

It's also not Viking. The age is alos hard to determine. The ornaments look ottonian but were also used in later times. From 800 until 1500 everything seems possible.

Top holes aren't really worn but some parts on the inside look lite there was something stuck thorugh

Baribal can you take a picture of the top? I blew up the pic as large as I can. It would be nice to see the design on the top.

Maybe a stud meant to be screwed into wood and rope fastened to the holes.
