Went to rd tear out abt 45 minutes away today. Fought through the rain/hail storm but was reworded with all this. Wasn't expecting to find a pistol, marbles and arrowheads while looking for old coins which are old. Worked the area very hard and trying not to fall down in the same time.
The pistol was found on a vacant lot near by which the house ether burnt down or was condemned a while back. Ran serial number ,gun was clean. Coins and marbles and arrowheads where scattered around the tear out sight. I knew the area was old but wow.
Pistol 9mm Biretta
1853 qrtr
1912-D dime
1864 2 cent which I over cleaned

The 1912-D is cool. It is one of the more pricey wheat cents. I'm surprised at the newer pistol find and also surprised that the plastic scales are missing.

Awesome mix of finds there! What a very nice adventure it must have been, several bucket list items there, big seated coin and a real pistol, still looking for those items here.

"1864 2 cent which i over cleaned"..lol that made me laugh..Being fairly new to the hobby, I STILL get way over excited/enthusiastic in cleaning my finds. After nearly destroying my first IH cent with a wire brush..a beautiful coin with great detail, my hunting buddy threatened to stab me in the eye with a sharp stick if he ever sees me with another wire brush in my hand.."that green patina is SUPPOSED to be there"..he says. and he is right..now If I find something valuable or a key date..I take more care in cleaning, or let my friend do it. I am too OCD..and hate to see dirt or tarnish on anything..but that is what makes it historic and valuable..we have PLENTY shiny coins today..Thanks for sharing..enjoyed the post, especially the pistol ! HH...ddf

Yes Clay road tear out. On that 2 cent piece I used soap and water and elbow grease and some hydro peroxide Lol. Just over did it so I can get the date but some green still left.
