So, I was very overwhelmed today, because it’s an off day with my ADHD. I decided to go to the bank and get some coin rolls to look through. I did this to help distract from my problems.

I opened a dime roll, and I IMMEDIATELY saw a silver dime. I could tell right away it was silver. All I could see was the edge. I picked it up and looked at it, only to discover it was a 1942 MERCURY DIME!

I find it unbelievable that I found this in a coin roll from the bank!

Well, that made my day better!

I feel your excitement, use to coin roll in the winter 15 years ago, it was a trill to find silver, one opened a whole roll of silver mercs, gave to the club for a seeded hunt, and also opened a whole roll of Ben halfs, gave them away to friends kids for their birthday, that when silver was real low, wish I had them back haha, maybe if I find the time this winter , I'll hit a couple of banks, good find

Sorry to sound a buzz kill & congrats on the silver, but I thought the whole point of CRH was to get silver, so why is it unbelievable?
PS. With asperger, I take things literally! (ie. seen whole rolls of silver half dollars etc...)

jnicholes: I think I know how Crusader feels, First, neat find; silver finds are always great. But look at your title...”Unbelievable coin roll find”. The term “unbelievable “ is relative and means different things for different people. For me, a Merc find is ok, but not unbelievable. When I see people post such words, and the result is just ok, I almost feel such a title is clickbait. Look, I know you didn’t intend that, but that’s what it feels like to many others. Call me a realist, I guess. Anyway, here’s a tip...get rolls of nickels if you can’t get half dollars. Surprising number of war nickels still out there.

I see what you mean. Apologies, then.

I got a call from one of my Bank Teller friends. It seems someone died and there children brought in 32 rolls of Haves. It cost me $320.00 I went there and got them the teller set them aside for me. I gave her a card the next day with 10 dollars in it. Out of the roll of 32 6 rolls were 1969 to 1965 5 rolls were 1964 and earlier. 21 of the rolls were 1971 or later . So 5 rolls were 90% and 6 of the rolls were 40% not a bad Afternoon. My suggestion is if you know the bank tellers and ask them they might notify you if someone brings in rolled coins.

About 3 months later i got a call from, a different bank teller telling me they just took in $670 worth of halves. I think out of the $670 in halves i got 3 halves in the 40 % and that was all. I almost had fun looking through them LOL

That does not happen often now. I have been searching mostly quarter rolls lately. I have had quite some success ,as I have found 4 forties silvers and a hand full of the new W West point quarters.

Nice job on the Merc. The silvers are getting a little harder to come by these days in the coin rolls.
