Ugliest nickel ever and coolest ring !

Hello, :hello:

The At pro continues to impress me !! I went back to the pounded site again... :icon_scratch: (Only place I've been all year.) I found some more hidden finds that the other machines missed. I found a really ugly screwed up nickel and a very cool old child's ring. I know there are some tutorials on restoring/cleaning nickels but I can't find the good ones. ??? If anyone has a link to these please post them here, I'd like to try and restore what I can of this old nickel. Simply just to find out what it is.... :dontknow: The little kids ring is very old. With what looks like a frosted glass stone I'm guessing Victorian or late 1800's.. What do you think? I don't think its sterling, but one of the cooler rings I've found. :headbang: Here are some pictures, the dime is for size only. On the last pic, I put a full nickel under the broken one for size too. I hope you all enjoy !! :notworthy:

Keep @ it and HH !! :laughing7:

Congrats!

Very cool old ring !

Okay, I'm kinda tired but I'm seeing a map of Africa and parts of Europe & Asia on your nickel in the first nickel picture! :tongue3:

LOVE THE RING!
:notworthy: :occasion18: I hope the child had many days of admiring her groovy ring before losing it. HAVE FUN! Andi

That ring is just to cool, great find.

could be late 1800s..looks to be copper, shes a nice one for sure...

I agree with you on 2 things. The nickel is ugly, & the ring is a beauty !

Awesome finds!...is that Nickel a Buff?...or V?..or can you even tell?

Thanks everyone, I have no idea what the Nickel is... That's why I'm asking anyone to help me find a good restoration tutorial. I think someone like buckelboy started a thread on it but I can't find it...

Keep @ it and HH !!

Put it in some ketchup in a plastic baggie for several days and change the ketchup out when it turns brown.

Looks like a Charles II Farthing circa 1675 (circa 22mm)

Lol, is that some kind of joke !!?? ??? When I first dug it I thought I noticed details of a coin like that but the detail was lost by the time it dried out.... :icon_scratch: I swear its a nickel, same size and same ridge, you can see it in the last picture its on top of another nickel..... :dontknow:

Nickels don't break like that. If it's a Charles II it could be "gun money" which does break like that. My Charles II Crown (or 1/2 Crown) has a broken edge like that. Of course since you location is "undisclosed" it's not possible to tell whether there's much of a chance of finding a Charles II coin where you are.

Yea, you can find coins like that around here... Harder to find pre 1700's varieties though...

no it just looked the right size & the same colour as the ones I often find. You have it in your hands, so you know best, just a quick scan suggestion.

Hmmm, :icon_scratch: I thought you were joking. Thank you for your professional incite, I will definitely keep your suggestion in mind. Even in my hands I can't tell what it is... Its like looking at clouds, like one dude said.. I see the world.... Do you know how I could restore it and maybe get some detail out of it?? To find out for sure what it is ? :dontknow:
Thanks so much !! :notworthy:

The detail is total worn off. The only way to be sure now is an expensive X-ray which will show up a surprising amount of hidden detail (ie. the impression of a head etc..)
