Problem with that…. Two others older than me still there.Just file an age discrimination charge with the labor board, you will be hired back in no time if its true.

If anything, they discriminate against treasure hunters.

Good Luck Dave, you’ll find something, just keep digging… Only a different wayWelp, who’s hiring?
Boss laid me off today, dammit man.
I gotta admit selling cheese isn’t my life’s calling, I just kinda fell into it. 3 years doing the easiest job I ever had, and BAM! Gimmie your keys. Guess I need to find a real job.
Saw it coming too…. They cut back everyone’s hours, skimping on production, not paying bills, etc…and also stopped contributions into 401k, and cancelled the health insurance. Obviously they are trimming the fat, making the company an attractive buy for when the owners sell and retire. My resume is kinda stale, so I gotta tighten that up.
Wish me luck Tnet, my detecting hours are about to increase!
I didn't know if I should like on that TR. On that SS there's a chance they'll pay you back pay from when you were 66, which should be your full retirement age, ask em. They did me, cause I went past before I applied. You can work as much or as little as you want to without affecting your benefits. Of course we are always hiring, but with your experience you should go hire on as a tour guide that takes tourists through some of the gold mines up here.I was let go on the 11th of this month due to some conditions that put an unexpected stain on the company. I applied for SS and I've been saving for retirement for more than 40 years. I'll be 68 this year, so maybe it's time to just go and be old I'm thinking and not give a damn so much anymore. The thought of that really does make me happy. I've been where your at before BW Dave and don't worry much, because we're Americans where anyone can land on their feet by just wanting to.
I was hoping things could be ironed out, but a lot of money was over extended to these smaller mine startups. Anyway I've already got something going again with some coherents I've known and worked with in the past for some part time work. Maybe I should check out Kroger. They shut the hot deli down at my local K Soopers, cuz they can't find anyone to work it. My oldest girl is employed by Kroger as a nurse practitioner in their Little Clinics. She works a permanent location in Ft Collins and at times fills in at other locations on her normal days off.I didn't know if I should like on that TR. I've had thoughts of applying at a new Lowes they built maybe not quite two years ago that I could walk to from my house. I actually talked a bit to a part time retired fellow when I was there and asked him what it was like. He pretty much described exactly what you're saying.Good luck to you. I started working at Lowe's part time several years ago and I have to say, they take care of their employees. BBQs and bonuses company-wide several times a year. They were giving away $100 million a month during covid. Getting another payment in 2 weeks. I always liked shopping there and like working there too. Just a thought, even temporarily.

I retired early at 55, SS filed for at 62 years old, and I never regretted it. A decent stock portfolio from decades of working is enough for my simple hobbies.
How far is the commute from there to Springfield, VA?Deep Creek Lake, MD
