I wanna make a really good decision here... thanks for any help! :icon_thumleft:

Well first and foremost I have to disagree with that choice having been there and done that. :laughing7: But more importantly they are very tough to bring in, expensive when it's all said and done, and not good on resale especially if sent back to Europe.... and you know all about that! ;D

wasn't that serious, just making a point, that this one is a preference thing. Who would of thought a detector could be too light, that you have to add weights :laughing9: thats crazy, the main reason I got it was to belt mount it

I bought my new detector in the spring and really like it. It's not the best thing on the market I'm sure but it works well for me and I've had some nice finds this season !! It's the Tesoro Cortes, lightweight, easy to use and it's comfortable at a decent price. My biggest complaint is that you cannot change the frequency. If I had the money I probably would have looked more into the minelab e-trac, I've heard nothing but good things about it.......just pricey is all. I know most people are partial to whatever brand they have, I also have a garrett (lower end model) but they are nice detectors as well. I think it's pretty safe to say that whatever major brand you go with you really can't go wrong as they are pretty much all making nice detectors today.

:hello2:... U should try the White's (MXT Pro).
I think :dontknow: it could be a very good choice to assist you while on your hunts.
I've been working mine now for about five months and I just can't put it down.... :read2: ...it's just an idea!
When you say the best one out there... :icon_scratch: ...that's telling me that you want a device that can do the work for you.
Well, :icon_scratch: it ain't no machine out there like that.
The best one is that individual operating that device and they are the only thing that is the best in this hobby of Metal detection.
The best can use any machine out in the market...makes no difference. :headbang: :laughing7: :notworthy:

Cortes was my old machine (Dad still uses one) but the XP blows it out the water. (& not as lightweight as the stick I now wave, the weight was an issue for the amount of time I use it with my back & arm injuries).

Minelab e-trac is a great machine but also ruled it out because of weight. It goes deeper, but what I lose in depth I make up with pace. Ploughed fields can wait for the deep plough. But if your hunting grass or park you probably should aim for depth.

I've had my minelab x-tera 705 for 1/2 year and love it. Great all around machine new, just under 700. Can't go wrong with it, great ground balancing and has a prospecting mode as well. Good luck
