What's up TNet. We hope y'all enjoy them!! Well enough talking....onto the photos! We have a few videos too

The button in the video ended up being the Massachusetts button

Outstanding!!!Eagle percussion co.makes sense!
Actually those arent sash buckles but suspender buckles that has a ring attachment, they were quite common in the 1850's,we find them, and I have a period photo somewhere!

thanks for the id help kuger.. I didnt know what they were but josh said suspender when i showed him the first one in the field, just a typo i think.. Thanks again for the replies and banner votes.. A lot of time and effort is put into these posts.
I figured you guys knew that.I cant tell you how awesome of a hunt you guys had,and know its not luck,it burns me when people think consistent fantastic finds are because of luck, its a lot of work, the detecting is the easy part!

Re: U.S. PLATE, 1746 Pillar Reale, VIRGINIA & MASS. BUTTONS....ALL FROM NEW CAMP

hey kuger and cru, i think ur both right cuz the cw stuff came from an area weve been researching but the reale was def blind luck in a lot we had never stepped in.. Either way we are very fortunate to be digging in this area

Excellent!!! Looks like a very early camp to me Gentlemen. WTG, Quindy.

Thanks Quin. Yes, this was a Rev. War, War of 1812, and a Civil War spot. Actually, this area was used for the duration of the war, but there are early war relics and buttons mixed in

Ok you guys. you've dug enough for one year. Leave something for the rest of us. :laughing7: All I can say is you all are on a roll and got into a great spot. On your 2 piece button, the Superior Quality mark on that one looks to be mid 1900's. During the centennial there were buttons and ribbons with a US & CS soldier shaking hands. I'm not 100% sure that's what the button is but I'm guessing it might be since the backmark seems to be of that time period. Can you make out what the writing on the front is?
Tell you what Yank......We'll come up and dig some more of those plates....and you can come down here and dig some of these buttons ;D ;D ;D How's that sound?

Man, let me tell you--If you two had called after each great find yesterday, it would've tied my phone up for hours. :o Now THAT's a hunt!!! Box plate is killer--and actually that percussion cap tin lid is a great find. I'm trying to think of where I've seen that in an original presentation box with a period sidearm before...must've been in an auction catalog.

I don't know what that mystery button is, but it is not a KY state seal. I am wondering if it could be a military academy. There are "Superior Quality" bm's from the CW era. I would like to see a good quality, close-up photo of the button in better lighting.

Regards,

Buckleboy

Thanks Buck. And no its definitely not a Kentucky BUT fresh out of the dirt it DID look like one but as soon as we got it home and I was able to more closely look at it, it became clear that it wasn't a Kentucky button. Than I thought, "The only other button I know of that has two people shaking hands are the G.A.R. buttons" But wasn't able to find and exact match....We'll crack it eventually....
