I had some time today and went to one of my old spots that produces sporadically.
I found this buckle about 8 inches down under a tree root in a gravel parking lot where there used to be homes at a local college. It is a very old style of buckle and is 2.5" by 1.25" and appears to be made out of a copper alloy. My hunting buddy (JimDon) found a 1914 D Barber last weekend near where this was found. Sorry for the blurry picture, didn't want to wash out with a flash.
We are 170 miles from the University of North Carolina (UNC) which I believe it represents, but I would love to date this thing.
Anyone that can help out?
I also found a 1946 quarter in another part of the parking lot where a side yard may have been.
