I found this bullet casing at a homesite that was built in 1890. Any ideas on the age of this casing? It was near a civil war area but I think it'd really old! What do you all think? If you measure the cartridge diameter in millimeters and thousands It will help date the cartridge. They made calibers close to .22 that were obsolete in favor of .22 rimfire. Union Metallic Merged with Remington in 1911 and discontinued the U a while after. They were making odd millimeter calibers as early as 1863 but not prior.

Cheers
