I have a friend of mine whose grandfather served on a U-Boat in WWII. All that she knows is that he was killed in action when the U-Boat was sunk (she doesn't know what U-Boat he served on). His name is Paul Volkmer...I have checked uboat.net but I can't find any information on the crew members. Does anyone have any references that may be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Also, I have a trip planned next weekend to dive a few wrecks out of Morehead City; if the conditions are right one option is the U-352. I'll post pics. Have a good weekend.

Did you leave a request message with uboat.net for this information?
Good hunting,
Don.....

A) Thanks Don for the indirect net information. I will see what they can come up with on my U-boat here. I understand that there were only 5 unaccounted for at the end of the war.

Maybe Daniel or others might have a chance to dive on it, it does exist.

There was a Kurt Volkmer who died on U-182 and a Werner Volmer who died on U-449. I hope this helps. I got this info on the ubootwaffe.net website. Let me know if you find out anything, bell47.

Thanks Bell. I did write to the U-Boat archives and they culd not find a Paul Volkmer. I talked to my friend again who talked to her mother and his name was Paul Becker (not Volkmer). I'll try ubootwaffe.net and if I can't find anything I'll write the rchives again. Thanks again Bell

Best regards,

Daniel
