Certainly a lot of digging for you in one area.
Amazing amount of stuff that has been lost over time.
The ring looks older than the age of the site.
(It's for the 1940s they created the reservoir?)

It was in 1952 I believe. Before that there was not even a paved road out this way.

Yes the 1937 map shows a dirt road out this way
Just saying that a few pieces look certainly older.

Was there a water system of sorts going beside the road?

I always find it interesting to recover something that predates an actual recorded site or building.

No there was not water out here until they flooded the canyon by building a damn. I am about to go on my last hunt there for at least a few days... quitting coffee tomorrow and I don't see myself having much energy after today.

Now here is a question as I am a little confused.
Usually they dam a water course to create a reservoir.

So they created a dam them filled it from where?
Sorry for keep bothering you about this one, just trying to understand how this was done.
You can PM me with the name of the water system.
I can answer my own questions.
BTW I am not living anywhere close to TX.🤣

They built Mansfield dam on the Colorado river in the 50s which created Lake Travis. The water course which is the Colorado river is several miles from here but when the area filled up it reached for many miles away from the main water way.

Ok the brain is functioning properly.
I get it now.
Thanks

You left out the partridge in the pear tree!
Seriously though that's a lot of digging, my backs aching just looking at it!

Good job cleaning up the lake bed , looks just like finds from my 1940-1950 's Man made lake .

Surprised you got only 2 coins.

PS I hate melted campsite Aluminum.

Today I dug 104 sinkers, about 15 pull tabs, couple of foils, a penny, nickel, a dime, and parts to sunglasses frame.
