Haven't been able to visit the folks on Cape Cod for a little while because of Covid, but came down this week. When I am here I love to work the beaches early in the morning. I've found lots of new change of course, and a few pieces of jewelry, yesterday I was surprised to see one of the dimes was a merc:

Too bad the ocean hates silver coins so much.

Also found this, which is a little scary:

Who brings a 5-inch fixed blade hunting knife onto the beach?! Edge is razor sharp, glad someone didn't step on it with bare feet.

Going back out this morning, hopefully I'll have something to post later today!

Steve

Nice Merc...congrats!

Lots of divers carry a fixed blade knife strapped to their leg. If you get tangled in fishing line or kelp, it helps a bunch!

Nice finds. The ocean can be tough on silver coins, though that one does not look bad. Always fun finding silver. Congrats!

Good Job, congrats! :occasion14:

That's true, thought maybe it was an angler but diver makes more sense. Still surprised me but now I have a nice blade to add to my collection!

Being a diver since childhood... when I received my first cert and started to ask my dad for dive gear of my own... (age 12)
He took me down to the dive shop with my choice of my first own piece of gear as a reward for completetion of PADI junior open water...

Walked in and went over to display case and pointed out my first NEW piece of gear in the collection.
A newly released model Wenoka dive knife full size... And never dove without a knife since that day.

Next to continuous air flow... it is the most important tool a diver can have... for it could save you or your dive partners life in an instant.
I dive with 2 always... one regular... one pry.

With all that babble... my point is... I have been "into" dive knives for a long time and... IMO...

The OP's knife is not a dive knife but does not mean someone didn't try to use it as one... hence the loss... it is just a knife... even china makes these.
One being its not stainless... Yet to see one that's not ... and its a laminated wood handle.

I bet it was someone fishing / cutting bait / etc. lost it.
