Both of these sites have something in common… they both had the arkies dig them a few years ago and both are now in the process of being developed for residential housing. I was fairly certain this was going to be my last visit to both sites.

I’ll first post a picture of the site, then I’ll post pics of the finds from each. I’ve detected both of these sites for many years before the arkies appeared and it hurts to think of what will now never be recovered. I’ll leave my favourite find until last and I knew exactly what it was when it popped up.

Thanks very much for looking,
Dave

Thanks bud. I was planning to hit one of the sites yesterday, but when I showed up there were a dozen construction works already on site. :dontknow:

That's exactly what this is too, I still can't believe I found one of these. :o
I was working in The Maritimes last week, I couldn't get over the amount of damage to the trees.
Dave
Very cool...I found a similar piece way back years ago and I too was surprised when I finally figured out what it was.... they predate kerosene lamps and were around in the time of candle light.
The tree damage here will be a thing we deal with for years to come....the power of nature is crazy....in 24 hours we lost half the trees on my woodlot property..its a mess.

Nice work Dave !! I was just looking whale oil lamps....that was a great spot...congrats on the the awsome finds !!

Ever since Fiona hit, home backup power is on everyone's radar in Atlantic Canada. The amount of wind damage to old barns and abandoned century homes was very upsetting. I was on Cape Breton Island two weeks ago and my largest Generac dealer there can't keep up with the demand. Here in Ontario, we've had 3 major storms impact us in the last 10 months, I have a feeling this summer is going to be just as bad too. :icon_scratch:

Thanks for your post Bart, I miss talking to everyone on ARC's thread everyday... I miss Bill more though. :sadsmiley:
Hope you and your family are all well these days.
Dave

Looks like you made the most of the time you had anyway. Good finds Dave!
Hi Dallas, you likely recognize these sites as they're both located north of Brooklin. I can't get over the changes they've made to the lands around Whitevale, it almost makes me cry when I drive through there these days.
Hope you have a great year,
Dave

You will always carry the memories of that site with you and hope you can get a few more hunts in there! Good luck to you!

Congrats on these, Dave. Sorry it isn't going to be available to hunt:( I never would have guessed what that lamp part was!
