Both of these sites have something in common… they both had the arkies dig them a few years ago and both are now in the process of being developed for residential housing. I was fairly certain this was going to be my last visit to both sites.

I’ll first post a picture of the site, then I’ll post pics of the finds from each. I’ve detected both of these sites for many years before the arkies appeared and it hurts to think of what will now never be recovered. I’ll leave my favourite find until last and I knew exactly what it was when it popped up.

Thanks very much for looking,
Dave

Nice going thanks for sharing :)

Well worth the time spent Dave. Love the bank tokens.
You should try and squeeze another hunt in before those sites are lost forever.

It is truly heart wrenching to see an old site get developed. Glad you were able to hit it all those years Dave.
Congrats and thanks for sharing!

What are you using on the coins for finish?

Killer finds! What is the last thing?

Long time since I have seen you post. Those are some great coins and finds. As usual, you do such a fine job with the restoration. Congrats!

Some nice finds. Don't be sad, at least your efforts have saved a few pieces of history that otherwise would never been seen again.

Thanks Gare, sorry it took so long for me to respond.
Very nice variety of finds you made along with fantastic photographs! Thanks for sharing it!
Thanks for your post scruggs.
It takes a lot of time to edit the pics, but it's worth it.
Dave
What is that last item that you have pictured?
It is a brass two-tube whale oil lamp burner. :hello2:

Hi Steve. :hello:
I was back again yesterday and found a couple of small relics, but no coppers.
Hope you're doing well,
Dave

I agree my friend, old fields like this are being developed everywhere here in Ontario.
All we can do is to save what we can... and this was all found after the arkies were here too.
What are you using on the coins for finish?
I use a fine brass wire wheel, then seal them with Conservators Wax. :icon_thumright:

Thanks for your post Jackson, this is exactly how I feel as well.
Best of luck to you sir!
A nice variety of finds there. Congratulations on the neat digs.
Thank you MC, unfortunately these old sites are disappearing fast here in Southern Ontario. :sadsmiley:
That is quite a batch of nice old coppers. Great finds.
Thanks buddy, I wish they were in better shape... but beggars can't be choosers. :laughing7:

Great finds.
Thanks Kona. :icon_thumright:

If you found a piece of a whale oil lamp that would be cool!
That's exactly what this is too, I still can't believe I found one of these. :o
I was working in The Maritimes last week, I couldn't get over the amount of damage to the trees.
Dave
