Two paintings I have been stumped on since I started

Got these a long time ago and threw them in a corner and forgot about them now that I look at them now it seems that have some considerable age just still can't figure out artist but canvas is a open weave canvas and is seems the base coat of paint holds the canvas together lol

Anyone know anything about felix meert from Belgium 19th to 20th century

I got nothing on either of these. The Meert doesn't appear to be any of the known artists named Meert. I found nothing on any painter named Verraes.

Where did you get these? They are very generic - like art school paintings from the late 19th or early 20th C.

And yes they do look generic that's why I just threw them in a corner but after learning alot about art I took a closer look at the canvas and noticed it is very old
