Well happy New Year everyone from the frozen tundra of Wisconsin. Haven't been out in a while due to deer season and the holidays. Was able to get out this weekend for the first time in weeks.

Went to my home park yesterday and today. Skunked with clad and frozen ground yesterday but moved deeper into the woods today where I could actually stick my shovel in the soil.

Decided to go to the spot where I dug my first ever IHPs. I had dug 4 of them in a small area about 6 or 7 years ago with my old Ace 250. I had been over this spot again with my Nox 800 and found nothing. TODAY I went over the same spot with the Manticore and was shocked when I pulled this...

My first ever Centennial 1876 Carson City Seated Quarter! It was an iffy signal reading 91-93 one way and after turning 90° the signal had a rough iron grunt. BUT that's because there was a nail in the hole. Really glad I dug the signal. I ended up with two more IHPs 1907 and 1882.

All these coins would have been part of the same spill once upon a time. That's 6 IHPs and the Seated Quarter in total all found over the last 6 to 7 years in the same 5 foot radius on a hill.

True testimony that a site is never hunted out. 3 machines, 6 to 7 years time, one detectorist, quality finds in the same EXACT same spot...

I wish everyone out there the best 2025 season. Good luck and happy hunting!

Thanks riverrat! I was a little discouraged yesterday but I knew I had to go where the leaf litter was a little thicker. I absolutely love your shed! Still waiting on our first big snow in SE Wisconsin. Just cold for now. Planning on some good ice fishing in two weeks hopefully, fingers crossed 🤞

Nice catch on the Seated Quarter.

South face of the forest the shovel slipped in. Northern side hard as a rock today.
Digging anything in January is a oh-ya!

Thanks peppers! Funny you should say that as these were dug on a north facing hill.. 🤔 Believe me when I say I dig till I'm snowed in or the ground is frozen solid. Haven't missed a month in 3 years now..
