Got sent home yesterday due to lack of work , while on the way to clock out I asked a buddy if he wanted to do a little detecting before dark and he said sure . He said he knew where a park was so we headed out . When we got there I was not very impressed with it to say the least , new playground on the back of a church property . While he headed straight for the woodchips I hit the turf . About an hour later and a trash pouch full of melted globs of metal with one dime to show for it I started to look around . Off to the left was a woodline so I headed over that way to try my luck there .
Just about half way there I noticed an opening cut through the woods and a few feet further saw an old swingset minus the swings . Needless to say that got my attention quick . Walked on through and low and behold there was a whole playground sitting in front of me :o . My very first target was a 1918 Merc , my very first one !! Well , like the good guy I am I called over to my buddy and told him to come on over , he finished digging something in the chips and finally got there , lol , he about had a fit .
Well , yesterday was a misting/drizzling day and my buddy wimped out on me and went home while I stayed behind , hunted for awhile longer and got a '54 Rosie with 4 Wheats in the same hole . It was getting too dark to see and I ended the day with one last Wheat + an old toy car .
Now for today's finds ..... got up and had my mandatory pot of coffee and off I went , got there around 2 or so . Nice weather , in the low to mid 60's with a slight breeze . It started out slow but I was in no hurry today , wanted to really check the place out good . I did a walk around the fill dirt that was dumped on one side , what a shame , with no good finds so went back to the old swingset from yesterdays Merc and scored a '59 Washington quarter , my second first in as many days !!!
Started a late grid pattern and ended up with three more Wheats and another Rosie , '56 this time . In one of my pictures you can see the new playground in the back ground , oh yeah , also found an old lighter today , says Washington D.C. on it and has the white house and two other monuments on it . Thanx in advance for checking my post and HH,ing and God bless .

Very nice! Now,save some of the silver until I can get out there...lol

May be able to get out tomorrow if you are planning to go. Give me a call.

Nice work! I never get tired of seeing silver peering up at me. :)

Looks like you have a great spot to hunt! Congrats on the firsts. They will turn up all the time now. I don't know why, but once a detector gets the scent of silver, it never forgets . I hope you find a bunch more!

Way to sniff out another hot spot! Keep hitting it, i'm sure more goodies are there...look out for a half!

Mac, that just shows to go you, i know, i meant to write it like that, any way that just shows to go you
that you never know what is going to come up. I have made so of my best finds at places that i didn't
think much of. Congratulations.

You have found a great site there. I am a playground maintenance person for the parks department in the city I live in and I can tell you that what I see from those pics there is no play surface under those play toys. (Grass is not a safe playsurface). If you find a playground with Grass as the playsurface you know you have found a good site. Mainly because it is before the time of safety standards designed for safe playgrounds.

Frank
