Headed back to last years farm that had two known homesteads. I couldn't believe I found a third homestead on it, it's the oldest. Three 1730's Georges with 8 blowhole buttons, and the solid white metal buttons about 9 in total confirmed its age. A small broken silver buckle with lots of smalls. Found in the field were three similar hand worked buttons, the artist was making eyes. It seems that I found different stages of his handiwork. I guess the TV wasn't working that day. I was introduced to the landowners at the back of the property and was given permission to hunt another 90 acres. The corn had been cut and the ground disked, the walking was easy. Two capped 1/2 dimes, 4 watch winders, and smalls. One of the winders depicts a running deer on one side, and a musket with satchel, and powder bag, with a bagged dear at the base of a tree. I like finding the picture winders. A coin button depicting the exact back of the capped bust half dimes was also found. My first coin button. While hunting, the farmer who leases the property showed up taking ground samples while I was swinging away. After a lengthy conversation I was given permission to hunt his 180 acres. Many acres to still hunt...

Wow Art, that's lot of keepers! Love those Capped Bust silvers and all those large coppers. Surprised you didn't get any nice early military buttons among all those finds.

I hear you. There is so much property to roam between the two farms, there is something good waiting somewhere. The new 180 acres will be after the hunting season, hopefully the ground is not frozen by then. Only one military button so far militia, mid 1800's.

Great early finds and lots of them, liking the two plate full of everything they're some eye candy for sure. The last photo?

Small dime sized brass bust of some creature. Flat on the other side, might of been attached to a larger piece.

Three of us are doing a 2 day weekend hunt, and seeing this fires me up to find a good spot! I only wish it would be that age, which I know it will not be.

PS: You also have a George I Halfpenny.

Wasn't sure of the year, but it came out of the older homestead on the properties. Good eye.

Incredible! Don't even know where to start, coppers, blowholes, silvers, and a mess of buttons....just amazing. Looking forward to what else you pull from this place.

P.S. is the silver buckle an indian fur trade silver annular brooch that's been mangled a bit by the plow?

One Lot silver Brooch! Fur Trade coin silver! 1700's (05/16/2011)

Look 'em up on Google Images... there's lots of varieties!

Very well could be. When I have found these early sites trade goods usually appear. I think this is what's left of a tinkler. There is a small spot on the wider end that looks like a tab was broken off.

Wowser! More great finds. That first photo is sweet! Wide open muddy hunting is my favorite since I'm always stuck in the dang brush and such. Phenomenal hunt!

Man what an amazing variety, this post has both quality and quantity, awesomeness right here!

An incredible assortment! Congrats those are some great coins.

Fantastic hunt there.
Love the wide variety.
Good luck getting back.

Astonishing collection of finds...total dream hunt. And those permissions just rolling in like waves? Sweet!

I've only been on here for 5 months, but I can't remember seeing a double capped dime before, let alone a hunt with a Liberty cap LC and all the rest thrown in, too.
