hello everyone, me and the wife decided to go yard saleing today thank god we did. we got to the third sale on our list, and i found a few things like an old hummel, and a couple of other things. as i was looking the wife called me over to her by a table. she said look at these there were four wooden boxes of mixed silver i was going to buy them all but an elderly lady asked if she could buy one so i let her take the first choice. well we ask the lady how much for the silver and she said a couple bucks me and the wife as antique collectors just looked at each other and smiled as we new what they were. we paid a total of $6 dollars for three boxes of mixed silver 90% of it is very old i still need to do some research on them but what a find i guess you never know what a day will bring. now i am going metal detecting while my luck is still good. thanks all. "god bless" ben & colleen.

yes anything marked with a "cross" means it is sterling the spoon in the pic dates from 1775 to 1807 made by william richardson from richmond virginia

Awesome find! I found a set at a yard sale once but, they got pitched in the trash during a move. I still wonder how that happened. :icon_scratch: Congrats on your find though! :headbang:

Not to burst your bubble, I think you may be mistaken. Most of what you pictured looks like modern silverplate. That spoon with the marks definitely is modern, and not from the 1775-1807 period. If it is silver and modern, the pieces should be marked "sterling" or with the fineness, .800, .900, etc. Still a good buy for a few bucks, but I think you have silver plate there.

I thought the same thing, but I'm not a expert in sterling silver hallmarks...

WTG on that sliver, great investment for $2.00 I also hope you got that Hummel, they are very collectable and expensive. If you did get that Hummel I would love to see a picture of it :headbang:

I have to agree with Nick A. I can't say what all of your flatware is but the close up of the WR is the mark for Wm. A. Rogers Ltd. and stands for medium grade half plate flat ware. So it's plated, but you may be able to sell some or all to Replacements Ltd.

This is a today's find

Modern or Old great find.

Heck, the wooden boxes are worth the $6, and would make nice display cases with a little mod work.

ok did a lil digging online for you... what you posted is known as WR Keystone.. it is silverplate, but some of the patterns for this are highly sought after so it might still have value to it.. what you going to have do is do a google search for WR Keystone silver an see if you can find the patterns to determine a value... Good luck... just remember if you don't see sterling,9.25,950 it's probly not silver it will be plated....

well i guess i will be making a lot of rings out of them lol. but still a good buy but its kind of a bummer to lol. thanks guys "god bless" ben
