Okay, one week from my last find which I believe is a Irish Halfpenny 1682 Charles 2nd.Was found near the cob I found last week,(1st pic).I went again this friday to a couple of other places I've researched, and the first place turned up a Braided Hair Large Cent, and a 1853 Half Dime and some sort of knife, and a adze. Also buttons, the normal chunks of lead, and more teeth almost everytime I find two or three of them. But just like the 4th of july there was a grand finale at the end of my hunt yesterday!!! :o. For me it was a dream come true, see I have looked shorelines relic hunted alot of places, and worked on the water pretty much all my life, commercial fishing all up and down the east coast.I've seen peices of them I knew they had been around, BUT NEVER FOUND A WHOLE ONE TILL NOW!!! ;D ;D ;D.There it was pretty as a picture washed out of the shoreline laying on a pile of old bricks from the place I had researched.I couldn't beleive it.! 1700 To 1740 circa. black glass English mallet wine bottle.I couldn't beleive I had finally found one no chips, cracks at all!

Thanks Bryan,I'm not sure what is considered banner material on here.I know I've tried to look up a bottle like this and have only seen two on the internet that match size, shape, and time era.One was on--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
www.sedwickcoins.com, under auction #2 it seems to be the one I found size, shape, timeline wise.Going for 300-400$. But you probably know your self being from here in N.C. these aren't popping out of the ground everyday.I've been at this stuff for around 25yrs.,my first, and banner or not it's a banner already for me.
Thanks Again,Timekiller
P.S. If it don't,just another reason to keep going you know the addictive nature of this hobby!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D

All your finds are fantastic but, that bottle WOW!!! :hello2:

Great hunt and congrats on the bottle!

Great finds!

The fossil teeth are spectacular. Any Pleistocene collector would be thrilled with those. Ever find any elephant (mastodon, mammoth) material at this site?

Thanks artorius, Personally I've not,but I do know a couple of guys I've worked with on boats who have, both of them have found a mastodon, and one of them also has a head of a walrus still has both tusk in it caught off chesapeake bay.And have heard of other people finding things like that most of the time it's boats that are dredging for scallops or using heavy nets.
Thanks,Timekiller

Yes sir, great find again. How did you come across the bottle and teeth again? Did you bring them up in nets or do you scuba dive?

Hey Byran, No,man I look places up on some map material I've got and take my little boat and go to these places all my finds are done like this, that way don't have a whole lot of asking people for permission cause anything below mean high tide is public access.Only thing just need low tides most of the time, pick days that tides are low.

New site I have found! It has alot of interesting information on it!
http://www.qaronline.org/
then click on the coin "Technical Reports and Bulletins Series"
then click on the coin beside "Reports"
then click on the coin beside "Preliminary Glassware and Bottle Analysis"

very cool stuff!

I know what this story is all about! I've searched as long as you, found the pieces, been to the right places and also have dreamed of finding one. I know how near impossible the task is, and would feel as happy as you, maybe even happier if that day ever came!
I'm glad that day came for you! I wouldn't care about value and like you said, how many of these pop out of the ground? I really like your find.
Thanks for sharing.
Dave.

Dave,
Yes, I know that pain and frustration very well. You find lots of pieces of those bottles and keep coming back to those places for years hoping that you find the ghost that haunts you. When I found this bottle I was so excited I called my wife and told her what I had found and that I was going to take my underware off and wrap it up in them. :laughing7: But I decided my metal detecting case was the better choice. I hope your day comes too! Thanks for your post! It's nice to share the find with someone who realizes how rare it is!

This has to be the top post on Tnet this week. Fantastic finds! That bottle is a Rare find for sure. And the old coins are just the icing. I missed the cob post I think. Got a link?

Best Wishes
